Recently, Bomba Energy Drink USA and The Bottle Crew hired us to create functionally powerful product imagery for their new websites and package branding. With the help of food/beverage stylist Ross Yedinak and my lovely assistant Maggie Fragel we set out to meet the demands of our new clients. Teamwork is what it is all about when tackling large projects that require professionalism, experience, and the latest camera and computer technology that the world can offer. Quite often when capturing product photography, there may not be exact direction from our clients as they often ask us to “do your thing.” Those three words get us excited because this can mean only one thing: Get Creative! We took an innovative approach with Bomba Energy Drink USA by coming up with a background that would not compete with the products but instead added a contemporary feel that felt cool and refreshing. Stylist Ross sculpted the ice cubes in the photos out of silicone but the fruit and leaves are organic.

The Bottle Crew shoot offered a different challenge: The client wanted large and elaborate group shots of their product. When collaborating multiple products in a single photo, attention to detail and design, and understanding tangents and triangular placement are important factors necessary to depict the company’s variety of  bottle shapes and packaging. One of the shots, pictured below, was influenced by my second-grade science class’s experiment on food coloring’s reaction when droplets were added to a bottle of water!
